The Bible in Art, by Tom Hayes

Tom Hayes, retired art teacher and historian, shares a series of seven themed presentations of Biblical narratives painted by artists throughout the ages. The compilations, curated by Tom, consist of images collected over decades of travel – he has collected approximately 600 slides. These slides come from over 50 art galleries and museums in over 15 countries. Tom’s presentations have been shown from Vancouver to New Brunswick, as well as Florida. His narrations are intimate, informative, and spiritually uplifting.

Old Testament Triumphs & Trials

This inspiring presentation thoughtfully focuses on selected passages from the books of the Old Testament, including Genesis, Exodus, 1 Samuel, 1, Kings, 2 Kings and Daniel.

Women of the Bible

The Bible is full of brave and notorious women. From Mary and Martha, to Salome, to the Samaritan woman at the well, they became the instruments of God’s story.

Christmas

Exploring the narratives surrounding the birth of Christ, this presentation is a visual reflection on the foundations of the Christian faith.

Angels

Angels have appeared in works of art since early Christian art. This presentation depicts scenes from Genesis to the closing verses of Revelation.

The Miracles of Christ

The apostle John said he wrote about Jesus’ miracles “so that you may believe.” This presentation contains portrayals of several of the miraculous deeds attributed to Jesus.

From Grief to… Victory

From Grief to… Victory depicts Christ’s Passion – the trials, sufferings, and glory of Christ in the hours leading up to and including his crucifixion and triumphant resurrection.

The Book of Acts

The Book of Acts is important because it was the first written history of the Christian church. The artwork presented depicts occurrences from the resurrection of Jesus to the imprisonment of the apostle Paul.
